Pressing onward in the face of opposition is a defining characteristic of the human race. Hopeless wars have been fought and won, giants have been brought to their knees and the world has been changed by the simplest of people.
Hope is one of those weird words that we all know, we could probably all define, but none of us really understand. Why do we so often continue to reach for things that are so seemingly impossible they border on the absurd? Why do we call a man a fool for hanging onto hope, yet praise him when his hope becomes reality?
Perhaps the impossibility of hope has nothing to do with the one hoping, but everything to do with the arrogance of the beholder… When we stand up and declare a dream there is a risk that we take, a risk that the world will call us fools… But maybe the greater risk is the worlds, when proclaiming a man a fool only to eat their words when he becomes a hero.
Instead of telling someone “you can’t”, maybe we should join the cause. I would rather be called a fool, heretic and dreamer than be just another voice in an already crowded chorus of mediocrity.
Write a song. Write a book. Paint. Skip. Start your own business. Pack a bag and just see where you end up. Give away all your stuff. Go a whole day without shoes. Quit your job and try something else!
Life is a majestic thing, and you only get one chance to be part of it! Don’t let someone else’s fear of sinking keep you out of the pool!
This is a salute to all the dreamers and thinkers, artists and adventurers out there! To everyone who ever stood up and took back their life, to everyone who has ever pressed on when the world said to turn back, I say ‘go get em’!
To everyone else, I say ‘what’s stopping you?’
